Construction Underway on 250th Street Water Main Replacement and Street Improvement Project!

Crews work on 250th St water main replacement

On July 17, the Lomita City Council awarded a construction contract to Stephen Doreck Equipment Rentals, Inc. for the water main replacement and street rehabilitation of 250th Street from Pennsylvania Ave. to Eshelman Ave. Construction commenced earlier this month. The project includes the replacement of the 90 year old 6″ cast iron water main with a new PVC 8″ main. Replacement of the water main on Doria Ave. south of 250th St. is also included in the project. Replacing the water main not only increases reliability by decreasing the risk of leaks and breaks, but also helps to improve water quality in the distribution system. Perhaps the most visible component of the project will be the rehabilitation of the pavement on 250th Street, which is badly degraded. The existing asphalt will be grinded and overlayed with new asphalt concrete and asphalt rubber hot mix.

We appreciate your patience throughout construction as some additional noise and lane closures are inevitable. To learn more about the project, please review the Council Staff Report or contact Mondher Saied, Senior Civil Engineer, at (310) 325-7110 x110.
