Multiple government agencies regulate and oversee the activities of the City of Lomita Water Division, as well as the quality of the water we deliver to ratepayers. These agencies include:
- The Federal Government – Lomita’s water supply must adhere to federal water quality standards. These standards are established at the Federal level of our government, but are enforced by state regulating authorities.
- The State of California – Monitors and enforces the Federal water quality standards, and provides a process to oversee the quality of water provided by the City.
- The State Water Resources Control Board, a board within the California Environmental Protection Agency, has a Division of Drinking Water. That Division: regulates public water systems; oversees water recycling projects; permits water treatment devices; supports and promotes water system security; and performs a number of other functions.
