The California Regional Water Quality Control Board Reviews Hi-Shear Corporation’s Response to the State Water Resources Control Board Order WQ 2019-0045-DWQ Questionnaire from July 1, 2020

On June 24, 2024, the California Regional Water Quality Control Board reviewed Hi-Shear Corporation’s response to the State Water Resources Control Board’s Order WQ 2019-0045-DWQ Questionnaire, dated July 1, 2020, for their location at 2600 Skypark Drive. Hi-Shear Corporation claimed that no chemical fume suppressants containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were used at their facility; however, the provided Material Safety Data Sheets indicated the use of Zonyl. Consequently, Hi-Shear Corporation is now required to submit a site investigation work plan by August 30, 2024, to investigate potential PFAS contamination in the soil, groundwater, stormwater and effluent wastewater, as specified in the Order.
